The Other Side

I was really down, when you unexpectedly came into my life
Loneliness and depression really had a hold on me
When I met you, I never expected, I would become your wife
Into my drab life, you have brought such happiness and glee.

I don't think any anyone has ever brought such happiness to me
You are one of the few people in this old world that I completely trust
I know you have been married before, but I don't care, because from you I would never flee
I know what we have together is love, it is not based on total passion or lust.

I know some of my friends look at me with envious eyes
I think every friend I have, wished they had someone that loved them, just like you
Always being truthful to me, I never have to worry about you telling me lies
Since I have been with you, I am always happy, never sad of blue.

I never suspected, within your body, two souls live and breathe
One is so loving and good, while the other is some one I don't even know
I've only seen the other you a couple of times. but that was enough to make me want to leave
But the good side of you I so love, so from you I never want to go.

No one but me has ever seen this other side of you
Everyone always envying me, telling me they wish they were as lucky as I
But they always see the good side, you always keep the other side hidden from most people's view
We seem like the perfect couple, in the eyes of most, how you treat me at times, I'm the only one that questions why.

One night you come home, bringing with you the side that I fear so much
You are acting like a raving lunatic, as it seems your intent to lash out at only me
I know your last wife left you, looking at me yelling, you start to fight me and punch
You have really lost it, my life is in danger, I know you will kill me, because you just disregard my pleas.

You really do master the dark side that perhaps exists in all of us. Most times suppressed, awaiting some trigger to release it. Scary stuff so well written.

Ouch...what a story, bitter and dark side of reality, the other side of mirror what people mostly can't see because it's often closed on the other side of doors. Very nice poem, it is sad, but composition and rhyming is great. This long lines also makes a kind of tension, pushing your readres to read and read because the tune is there, something invisible around the corner...
